Thursday, February 11, 2010 - Chief 143, Squad 143, and Ambulance 543 responded to a Motor Vehicle Accident in the area of Washington Terrace and Rock Street. While enroute to the scene, Luzerne County 911 advised all responding units that there were three vehicles involved and one vehicle struck a residence.
Once on scene, Chief 143 performed a size up of the accident scene and checked for structural damage on the residence. The crew from Squad 143 stabilized one of the vehicles and checked for any leaking fluids. The EMS crew quickly went to work assessing and treating two patients, both who sustained injuries from the accident. Fire Police 143 assisted the Hughestown Police Department with traffic control.
Chief 143 then requested another BLS to respond to the scene. Both of the patients were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Crews would remain on the scene for more than thirty minutes before returning to service.
