March 27, 2016 - Just after midnight, Chief 143, Engine 143, & Utility 143 along with the balance of the first alarm were dispatched to Donnelly Street in Duryea Borough for another working structure fire. Engine 126 and Ladder 226 would arrive simultaneously and both would go right to work establishing a water supply and laddering the building respectively. Once on scene, Chief 143 would be assigned as the Incident Commander by Chief 226.
Engine 126 stretched the first attack line and knocked down the fire in the kitchen and bathroom area that was held in check by the 226 Can Man while the crew from Engine 143 would assume the duties of the second due engine company and place a second attack line into service as the back-up line. After the fire was knocked down, Engine 143 assisted with overhaul before they would start picking up. The fire was contained to the first floor kitchen and bathroom.
All occupants were able to get out of the building or were not home at the time of the fire. The Red Cross was helping with getting shelter for the displaced tenants. Good job by all the first alarm companies.
